Together
with Sperry Marine of the USA, a partner company in Northrop Grumman,
LITEF markets a family of naval navigation products using both FOG
and Ring Laser Gyro (RLG) technologies.
Customers
for LITEF’s naval navigation products include more than 30 of
the world’s navies and coast guards. LITEF’s naval navigation
products include Gyro Compasses, Inertial Navigation Systems, Attitude
and Heading Reference Systems, Vertical Reference Systems, Stabilisation
Systems, Naval Data Management Systems, Integrated Navigation Systems.
They
are suitable for use in all types and sizes of surface and sub-surface
vessels, from patrol boats and fast attack craft to corvettes and
frigates, from minehunters and special purpose vessels to remotely
operated vehicles, torpedoes and submarines. None of LITEF’s
naval products requires routine or periodic maintenance.
Specific
examples of LITEF’s range of naval navigation products are:
 |
LFK95
Fiber Optic Gyro Compass
The
LFK95 is the world’s first FOG gyro compass and was designed
to meet all existing and projected IMO regulations, especially
those for high speed craft. It has no moving parts and requires
no maintenance. It has a very high dynamic response and outputs
roll and pitch information as well as heading.

|
LSR85
Gyro Compass and Vertical Reference System
The
LSR85 was designed for use as the main navigation system in
smaller naval vessels up to Corvette size or as the secondary
system in larger vessels. Able to withstand high levels of shock,
it has been selected for several Minehunter programs.
The LSR85 is available with an embedded GPS and can be closely
coupled with an external GPS or DGPS.
As
for other LITEF naval products, no routine maintenance is required.

PL41
MK4 Mod1 Inertial Navigation System
The PL41
Mk4 Mod1 is LITEF’s latest RLG inertial navigation system,
replacing the PL41 Mk3 of which more than 400 were sold worldwide.
It is a “one nautical mile in eight hours” class
of inertial navigation system.Using very low noise digital RLGs,
the PL41 Mk4 Mod1 meets the latest specifications for structure
borne noise without the need for external noise damping.
A feature of the system is that the Inertial Measurement Unit
(IMU) and all electronic cards can be exchanged at sea. No post
event calibration or alignment is required.
By using the same Mounting Plate, a PL41 Mk3 can be exchanged
for a PL41 Mk4 Mod1 in literally minutes.

|
PL41
MK4 Mod2 Inertial Navigation System
The PL41
Mk4 Mod2 is the high accuracy “one nautical mile in twenty
four hours” version of the PL41 Mk4 Mod1 using the same
very low noise digital RLGs to meet the latest military specifications
for structure borne noise in submarines. |

NDMS
Naval Data Management System
Developed
for the German and Italian U212 Submarines, and subsequently
ordered for the Chilean SCORPENE Submarines as well, the NDMS
in its full version is an intelligent data optimisation and
distribution system, using a dynamic model of the host vessel
as its basis of reference. Sub-sets of the NDMS, with or without
data optimisation and able to process both digital and synchro
information are offered for all types and sizes of naval vessels.
The NDMS uses both dual redundant Token Ring and VME bus technologies
to provide maximum redundancy.
